d. Feb 18, 2024
RICOTTA - Karen A. It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of the Honorable Karen A. Ricotta on February 18, 2024, at age 68. Karen settled in North Collins, NY in 1992, after living in Hamburg, Eden and Perrysburg. Karen was a devoted mother to Trina Cohan and loving grandmother to Collin Gleason, Cameron Charney and Charlee Cohan. Karen was predeceased by her father, Anthony J. Ricotta Sr., and is survived by her mother Dorothy Spencer Ricotta. Karen was the big sister to Tony (Carol), Curt (Valerie), Roger (Pauline), and David (Beth) Ricotta. Karen is also survived by sisters-in-law and many nieces, nephews, and close friends. At the time of her death, Karen was serving as a Town Justice in North Collins. She previously served as a Councilmember in North Collins, and happily retired after 26 years from the NYS Department of Corrections, rising to the rank of Captain. Karen had a mighty green thumb and a great love for her pets. Friends may call for a memorial visitation on Friday, March 1, 2024 from 3-7 pm at Wentland Funeral Home 10634 Main St. (Rt. 62), North Collins, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, March 2, 2024 at 11 AM from Epiphany of Our Lord Church, 10893 Sisson Hwy (Rt. 75), Langford, NY. Please assemble at church. Flowers gratefully declined. Memorial donations may be made to Thrifty Kitty, an animal shelter in Westfield, NY that Karen generously supported or the Roswell Park Alliance Foundation, where she received compassionate, professional care.
