LINDELL Shirley E. (Folts) of Great Valley, NY was called to her greater rewards June 2, 2021. She was born in Great Valley during a snowstorm on September 28, 1917 to Alson H. Folts and Vera Flint Folts. She attended elementary school in Great Valley and graduated from Salamanca High School with honors. Shirley married John. E. Lindell in 1938, they had four children, three of whom survive her. They worked hard logging and farming. Shirley milked cows mornings and afternoons as John also worked fulltime on the B&O Railroad as an engineer. Shirley volunteered tirelessly for all activities involving her children and community as well as over 20 years with the Salamanca and Olean Hospital Auxiliary. She knit hundreds of infant caps so that each infant left the Olean General Hospital with a handmade cap. She served as Great Valley Town Clerk for many years and worked at a Veterinary Hospital. Shirley was a combination of great wife, curiosity and high intellect. She often said her life was filled with cows, kids and baking acres of cookies. She is predeceased by her loving husband John of 62 years, her beloved son John and devoted son-in-law Joseph L. Kelly Jr. Shirley is survived by her daughter Jean Waite of Huntersville, NC, Janet Kelly of Eden, NY and Signe Lindell of Sante Fe, NM. Additionally she is survived by 5 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Also many generations of nieces and nephews. No service scheduled. Burial will be in Green Cemetery, Great Valley, NY.
